To support the delivery of permanent supportive housing, in 2022 the WAAEH partnered with Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) to develop a document based on the experience and growth of supportive housing in the USA, facilitated by CSH. Additionally, WAAEH have adapted a needs-based planning framework used in US local communities to determine the need and growth for supportive housing in WA.
This work has provided insight into what it would take for Western Australian local communities to consider developing a Supportive Housing Growth Plan. These tools could potentially assist us in planning to end rough sleeping and/or chronic homelessness for Western Australian communities – an outcome that’s part of the WA Government and WAAEH strategies to end homelessness.
