The second-year impact project with University of Notre Dame’s Home2Health team examined the intersection of homelessness and the justice system. Responding to growing sector concerns about people being released from prison into homelessness and the lack of routine data collection in Western Australia, the project focused on identifying evidence gaps, building partnerships, and exploring advocacy opportunities. As funding and opportunities arise, next steps of this work will include; continued engagement with the Department of Justice and key stakeholders, ongoing evidence gathering and awareness raising, cross-sector collaboration, and improved monitoring of prison releases into homelessness to strengthen the evidence base and support advocacy.
